In the HE★VENS Sky drama track, Van comments on Eiichi's prowess as a leader, to which Eiichi responds that he can only lead the group so well because he has Van to support him. Van has playfully teased Eiichi on occasion, such as imitating his "ii!" catchphrase, suggesting that the two have a close friendship.
In the sixth episode of the fourth season, after his song meeting with Ren and Haruka, Van approached Eiichi and told him that he understood why he kept saying that he always wanted Haruka to become theirs. He highly respects Eiichi as the leader of HE★VENS. Syo Kurusu Cecil Aijima Reiji Kotobuki Ranmaru Kurosaki Ai Mikaze Camus Shining Saotome Eiichi Otori Van seemed to treat the project much more flippantly than Ren, though he saw Ren as a worthy rival for Haruka's hand.

In the sixth episode of the fourth season, as part of their duet project, Van and Ren were cast in a TV drama where they would be playing the roles of rival lawyers. Otoya Ittoki Masato Hijirikawa Natsuki Shinomiya Tokiya Ichinose Ren Jinguji However, he quietly vowed that he wouldn't give up, because he fell in love with Haruka after listening to " HE★VENS GATE" and learning that she was the one who composed it. He then thanked Haruka for listening to him, accepting her rejection. Haruka inadvertently turned him down which Van laughed off and he called her an interesting girl. He tried to persuade her by promising to make her happy if she agrees to date him and pressed her for an answer. After the filming was over, Van took Haruka to the rooftop of the film studio where he declared his love for her. When Ren confronted him about his advances towards Haruka, Van proposed that the one who recieves the most praise for their performance in the TV drama gets her. This led him to ask her out on a date which stressed her. Van was also very impressed when Haruka was quick to figure out his idea for the duet song and his advances towards her became agressive.
